Bedroom staging is all about helping potential buyers envision themselves relaxing at the end of a long day in the space. Modern bedrooms are meant to be more than a place to sleep. Many new constructions include sitting rooms and breakfast bars in the master suite. This was the case in the master bedrooms that Design2Sell staged in the model homes built by Wilson Parker Homes.
In staging, all bedrooms in the home should be designed to appeal to the majority of buyers, but the master bedroom is the most important. After all, those paying the mortgage will likely occupy the master suite and so it must receive extra attention when designing to sell.
Here are a few tips to keep in mind when you are staging to sell or designing to live that can help you achieve a peaceful space to retreat when the sun sets.
-Make the bed visible. When you walk into the bedroom, you should be able to see the bed immediately. It should be the focal point of the room. A padded headboard and lush bedding will create drama in the space and invite potential buyers into the room.
-Seating areas. A small armless chair tucked in a corner or a chaise lounge paired with a small table creates a reading nook or a place to sit down with a cup of coffee. In the Wilson Parker model homes each master bedroom featured a fireplace. This provided the Design2Sell team with the opportunity to creating a cozy seating area in each of the master bedrooms.
-Soften the hard edges of the room. Use draperies to soften the space, filter light, and add make the room more inviting. Hang curtain panels close to the ceiling and use a wide rod so that the panels flank the window without covering it to create a dramatic look. Use silk fabric that is a color close to the wall color for a calming effect that is easy on the eyes.
See how we put these tips to use in the pictures below from the Wilson Parker model homes.
