Discovering New Trends at High Point Market

March 22, 2018 | Blogs, News and Press

High Point Market TrendsEach year during the months of April and October, the design world comes together to see the latest emerging trends. Designers, editors, bloggers, publicists, and anyone else who is design-savvy will board a plane bound for North Carolina for the annual High Point Furniture Market.  Our team at Design2Sell looks forward to this event every year in hopes of finding one-of-a-kind pieces to bring to our clients. In anticipation of this season’s market, which begins April 14, we have our notepads ready for new ideas, furniture designs and more!

The High Point Market is no ordinary showing. There are 180 buildings filled with 2,000 booths and showrooms. Visitors can expect to see 75,000 people from more than 100 countries in attendance at the market. Attendees move between modern structures and charming, historic brick buildings that were once furniture factories and warehouses and now play home to the thousands of furniture and decor vendors. It’s guaranteed that you’ll run into just about everyone you’ve ever worked with on the plane or at any one of the hotels served by the market’s shuttle bus.

The event itself is informative and inspirational. As designers, we get the chance to meet the best in the business and to physically touch every piece of fabric, see all styles of furniture and so much more. The priceless information we learn from the experts helps us grow as a company and as designers. The showrooms and exclusive pieces encourage you to look through the eyes of other designers and stylists and learn new ways to style your client’s home.

High Point MarketDesigners even acquire knowledge at the event that is not design-related. From the homemade southern cuisine to the good old-fashioned milkshakes and BBQ, the food is definitely an experience for non-natives. From the biannual Mottahedeh sale to Mr. Brown’s warehouse and the barn at Schwung Home, there are endless opportunities for unique retail therapy. For those interested in architecture, a site especially surprising to those visiting from big cities are the stately brick dorms at High Point University. With wrought-iron gates, neatly trimmed hedges and (possibly) private pools, the dorms are sure to make everyone envious.

We cannot wait to scout out the latest designer launches, seasonal trends, product picks and more come April! Rest assured, while we’re oohing and aahhing over the immaculate colors, textures and surfaces, we’ll be taking plenty of notes to bring back to our clients. Be sure to keep an eye on our blog for updates on our findings! For more information on our services, contact us online or call 678-505-1433.
