Color Trends of 2020

It’s hard to believe 2019 is coming to an end, but before you know it Thanksgiving and Christmas will all be over. With the year finishing up so fast, it’s no surprise we are already starting to see the big predictions for color trends in 2020. With so many different ideas and color to keep up with, we are going to help you out a little and let you know some of our favorite color predictions for the upcoming year.

Sherwin-Williams Color of the Year

Sherwin-Williams recently announced their 2020 color of the year: Naval (SW 6244). This calm and striking navy blue color is considered the new neutral. Pairing perfectly with everything from bold brass colors to classic whites, Naval works well with almost everything. The experts at Sherwin-Williams recommend pairing Naval with metallic gold accents like Tarnished Trumpet (SW 9026) and Midday (SW 6695) to help promote warmth in an area, while using a softer color like Kale Green (SW 6460) could help a room feel down-to-earth. Naval is great for designers because of the versatility it offers. Whether we decide to use it as the main theme of a room or as soft accents, the color adds life and style to any area.

Benjamin Moore Color of the Year

Much like the Sherwin-Williams’ Color of the Year, the Benjamin Moore color selection is both vibrant and warm. Benjamin Moore chose First Light (2102-70) for their Color of the Year. This color is thought to provoke optimism and feelings of joy when used in a room, representing idealism in design. The shade of light pink chosen by Benjamin Moore can be used anywhere in the home, and it is a great alternative to overused neutral colors like tan or beige. Use First Light in a room as a neutral contrast while also adding a pop of color. First Light also pairs well with darker tones like Army Green (2141-30) or even the Sherwin-Williams Naval.

Timeless Whites Color Trends

Every year, big brands use their expertise to express their takes on color trends for the coming months. Designers choose beautiful and vibrant colors to place in homes everywhere. One color group we definitely don’t want to overlook is the ever-steady whites! Timeless whites never go out of fashion and are incredibly versatile and unifying. We love to use colors like Alabaster (SW 7006), Egret White (SW 7570), Snowbound (SW 7004), and Pure White (SW 7005) when staging a home. This group of classic whites never fail us in any of our staging needs. Whenever a room calls for a sharp contrast to help other colors pop, we turn to one of these Sherwin-Williams timeless whites to provide that distinction.
